Chennai Central railway station

Chennai Central railway station is one of the most important railway hubs in South India.

The 138-year-old building of the railway station, one of the most prominent landmarks of Chennai, was designed by architect George Harding in the Gothic Revival style. The main building, a combination of Gothic and Romanesque styles. 

Chennai Central serves as a symbolic landmark for people in South India as this station served as the main gateway for all people who travelled to South India during the British times. In 2009, the Department of Posts featured Chennai Central in a postal stamp.
